A group of volunteers chaired by Kathryn Wallis has published a series of leaflets of walks around the village, and beyond, all using Public Footpaths and Rights of Way. Copies are available both online on this website – free, and in printed form from Barkers – for a small charge.
We have enjoyed exploring these walks and producing the leaflets. The first four are already available and a further four will be published in the near future.
We show for each walk the distance and the time you can expect to take and describe the route in detail together with a map and some fascinating facts about the area. As well as the wooden or green signposts for Public Footpaths, along the way you will also see ‘waymarks’ – yellow arrows – which point the direction the path should take. Please note that on these routes any ‘Private Road’ or ‘No Entry’ signs apply only to vehicles and horses (unless on a bridleway); walkers have the right of way. In return we expect to follow the Countryside Code:
Be safe – plan ahead and follow any signs
Leave gates and property as you find them
Protect plants and animals
Take your litter home
Keep dogs under close control
Consider other people.
…but above all, enjoy it.
We hope you enjoy the walks, and should you find any problems with a particular walk, please let a member of the group know.
